FAQ

90 minutes of shooting?!
This is not a set number. Some sessions take a little longer, and some don't take as much time. I'll make sure we take the right amount of time to get the images you're looking for.

Why are only 5 images going to be retouched?
I've found that more than 5 images gets to be too much to decide between. These retouched images are usually the ones that get printed and displayed at larger sizes, and therefore need the extra attention. In addition to the retouched images, I also give you a link to an online gallery with the rest of the images from the session on it. These will all be color corrected and perfect for Instagram, 4x6 photo prints, and albums. If there's a few more images you'd like fully retouched, you can get them for $50 per image.

How many places can we go?
As many as you'd like within the time slot. See more details on the Pricing page.

What should I wear?
I usually suggest that you stick to 3 outfits during your session:

  • A casual outfit. This is an every day look, usually something you'd wear to school. Try to avoid things like intricate patterns, this makes the camera do goofy things. I would also skip shirts with logos or words on the chest, solid colors will stand the test of time.

  • A dressy outfit. This is a more classy outfit, think of what Grandma would like you to wear in a picture she's going to hang on her wall. Dress shirts and dark jeans usually work best for the guys, I think the ladies will have this one covered. A suit and tie, or formal dress, is going over the top (for most people). Pick something that feels the most like you!

  • An outfit that goes with a sport you play, or a hobby. Photos of you in your jersey or tutu are great ways to look back on all the great memories.

Can I bring props?
I encourage people to bring anything that goes with their sport or hobby. No item is too big. I've shot images of people with their trucks, baseball gear, lacrosse gear, skis, black belts, rabbits, dogs, and even horses (yes plural). The props do depend on the location, we need to make sure we have approval (in the case of animals) and enough space (for vehicles) to make the images look awesome.

Can I do some Buddy Pics?
Anyone is welcome to join! If you'd like these photos retouched, see more details in the A la carte section on the Pricing page.

Who can join me during my session?
You can do it on your own, or anyone can join you. If mom/dad/grandma/bff want to come with you and help keep track of your props and outfits, it is really helpful (and make sure to say thank you!).

Do you offer prints, wall art, or canvases?
Yes! I partner with a national photo lab to deliver professional quality prints and more. Simply add them to your cart in your online gallery, and if you don’t see an option you’re looking for, reach out to me and I can add a custom option!

My photo session was awesome, but I just got my photos back from the printer and they look like crap!
*While you are free to get your photos printed anywhere, I recommend ordering prints from your online gallery. I work with a national photo lab that’s calibrated to my computer and camera setup and colors will be the most accurate.

The color of your printed photos will never look 100% like the photos on your computer screen, but they can definitely be close. Sometimes, places will have an "Autocorrect color" option, make sure when you're uploading your photos that this is NOT selected. I have made sure that all of the images are the right color, brightness, and contrast for printing, so any additional correction is not needed.

Another problem that can occur is that the printer is not calibrated correctly, and even if you've done everything right on your end, pictures can still turn out too dark. If this is the case, ask the printer if they can reprint them after making some adjustments on their end. Feel free to contact me if your prints are not looking right, or if you need assistance during the print process.

If you still have questions that are unanswered, give me a call, or shoot me an email!
